Ansons and Davis
Diagnosis and Management of Ocular Motility Disorders
The third edition of this popular ocular motility disorder book maintains the basic framework of the previous two editions - although there is an extra chapter on concomitant strabismus and also a very thorough updating of all the other chapters in the book. It covers all aspects of Orthoptics and is a valuable aid for both undergraduates and qualified professionals.
Ansons and Davis is divided into three sections:
Section 1: deals with the assesment of the patient. This is in the format of a step by step sequence.
Section 2: covers in detail the principles and methods of non-surgical treatment whether optical, orthoptical or pharmacological. Surgical procedures are described and evaluated along with Botulinum toxin.
Section 3: discusses the clinical featuresm aetiology and management of specific ocular motility disorders including both supranuclear and infranuclear disorders, nystagmus and a very thorough overview of amblyopia.
Overall although this book may be more expensive than some of its rivals - it is perfectly possible it is the only orthoptic book you would need to buy, supplemented of course by articles which can be obtained from its reference section and current journals for varying opinions.
Ansons and Davis is published by Blackwell Publications - Ansons and Davis
