It's a big purchase for most people so you should carefully check the prices before buying your Panasonic TX32LZD85 ? The prices can vary greatly on this model especially on the high street - simply buy from a source you can trust at the cheapest price. The extra cost buying a quality TV - is it worth saving a few quid for something you'll probably watch every day - currently over 75% of the WHICH best buy TVs are Panasonics.
Because the Panasonic TX32LZD85 is at the top quality end of the LCD market - it certainly isn't a budget option, although as with all the Panasonic range - it really is beautifully made.
The screen is Full HD and so picture is made up from 1080 horizontal lines instead of the lower resolution of the HD Ready sets. Remember though you will only get the benefit of this higher resolution when you're watching a picture generated from a HD source. Plug an Xbox, PS3 or Bluray and you'll see a stunning level of clarity and detail. With SD (standard Definition) often you won't see this benefit but lots more HD sources are appearing with even the BBC joining in.
The Panasonic TX32LZD85 has three HDMI connection which means you'll be able to plug in many HD sources with no problems. The set also has the usual other connection options including 2 scart sockets.
The premium you pay for this 32" Panasonic LCD over cheaper sets is for it's almost unparalleled High definition picture - if you're not going to be watching or gaming in HD maybe look at cheaper sets.
Whats the difference between the Panasonic 85 and the 80 model ?
It's probably worth pointing out the difference between this model and the slightly cheaper TX32LZD80 - both are superb sets but the cheaper model has inferior sound. The sound system has upgraded speakers which deliver probably the best sound in a 32" LCD on the market. If you're planning to use an external speaker system though this may not be worth it. The LZD85 version also has a higher refresh rate with the 100Mhz Motion Picture pro system.
The Panasonic TX32LZD85 is an IPS Alpha panel which has a really wide viewing angle - which means the picture is just as good when you're not directly in front of the screen. This is probably as good as is available with an LCD TV - if you want the very widest viewing angle plasma TVs have the advantage here.
Also included is the Viera link system which allows you operate all other Panasonic equipment from the Tvs remote control. The Panasonic TX-32LZD85 also has the incredibly useful SD slot which means you can take that little card out of your digital camera and watch all your photos directly on the LCD screen. If you take digital photographs its worth watching out for this feature as it really is useful.
