Canon MP970

The Canon Pixma MP970 is from Canons latest Pixma range of multifunction printers. The first thing you notice is the impressive build quality - this is a heavy, solid piece of equipment with a really good feel to it.

The Canon MP970 is packed full of features and is a very competant Printer, Scanner and Photocopier. The scanner is particularly impressive and produces high quality scans in about 30 seconds. You can print directly from a camera using Pictbridge and even do some basic photo editing from the LCD screen and menu. The Canon MP970 also allows printing direct from most Memory cards although XD and miniSD card were not supported all the major card formats were.

The colour photocopying is a little on the slow side but the results are impressive - you can even scan bulky items like books and magazines easily.

The Canon Pixma MP970 has 7 ink cartridges which hopefully should decrease the cost of ownership and you can replace the specific colors you need. The printer has two trays which you can select when printing from the options menu. This is very useful for not having to change paper types or maybe if you use headed paper occasionally.

The quality of the printing is good from all formats from photos to standard black and white copies. The noise levels are pretty low which is probably due to the excellent build quality.

Overall this is an excellent all-round printer which produces decent quality copies. It is well built but quite large if space is your primary concern better look at other models.
