Some Advice on Choosing the Right SEO Company

There’s no doubt that it is usually a smart move to outsource your search marketing, but only if you choose a solid and reliable SEO company.Remember there is often a huge difference to what you read in the sales letter and the reality. But if you want to make the most of your website and bring in that prized search engine traffic then you must choose the right firm.It can be a bit confusing though so here’s a few pointers to help you in your search. Read and absorb the following tips on making a wise choice for your SEO company.

A good SEO company will have past clients, so use the search engines and see where they are currently positioned.

You could find a company that will merit an initial email because you have seen first hand that they can get some sites ranked highly. Since they have testimonials on their site, they should have links in the signatures. Do not forget to just Google the name of the person or the business you are interested in, and see if there is anything on the net about them.

When it comes to backlinking, that is perhaps one of the most important concerns you will have. Getting the right backlinks is an important part of SEO, without which it’s not possible to rank your site. If you have no knowledge about backlinks, then it is in your best interest to try to learn something before buying services. The backlinks should also be relevant to your niche, and make sure they provide you with the sources where your backlinks have been placed. A little bit of knowledge really can save you from doing business with the wrong people.

Ask about how  they intend to achieve your rankings, this is a great way to assess the depth of their knowledge.  Make sure that they are promoting your web sites in a solid and professional way – it shouldn’t all be about one method.  Check to make sure that they’re leveraging things like social media as well – social bookmarking can be a very powerful SEO tool.

It makes sense to check the search engine ranking of the company that you’re trying to hire for SEO. You never know what you will uncover if you just do a little digging on your own. If they are ranking on the first page then it’s a good deal. So then just see where they are in the SERPS, and see if that tells you anything in particular. You can find all kinds of people in business, as you know, so you must do your own diligence, here.

You have to do a number of things to ensure that you are hiring the right SEO company. Since you will be a paying customer, you want the results you rightfully deserve. As you know much better now, it does make a huge difference who you choose to do your optimization. This issue of SEO is so important to your success that you have to be stubborn about finding the best you can afford.

How To Get Your Web Site Crawled More Often

It really is important to get the crawl rate for your website as high as possible. If you want the search engine bots to come to your website regularly, you need to do the right things to get them there. The size of your site isn’t what matters, nor is the age. As long as you work hard to give the search engines the fodder they need to stay happy, they’ll help you make sure that your ranking is good. Yes, it does take time to establish yourself in the eyes of the major search engines.

That doesn’t mean that you can totally forget about the crawl rate of your website. In this article we are going to take a look at some of the things that you can do to boost your website’s crawl rate.

Search engines appreciate fresh content and if your site doesn’t have any of that then you are going to be missing out on getting the search engines to actually crawl through your site. The content on your website is going to play a major role in actually helping you find success. If it is fresh and happening you’ll be able to attract the bots without any trouble. Coming up with fresh content really isn’t all that hard. Just focus on providing real value to your visitors, and you should do good. You need to make sure that your content is all the way up to date.

Also, all the major search engines are dead against plagiarism. If you publish copied content on your site, you’re setting yourself up to create a horrible impression. This is guaranteed to make the search engines believe that you’re stealing content from other sites. Do you think that this will actually help you improve your crawl rate? It just makes it worse. The more effort that you put into coming up with creative and original content the better off your site will be. No matter which approach you take with your content creation, you need to keep it original. It’s even a bad idea to copy content from one of your sites to another of your sites. Give as much honest value to your visitors as you are able to.

Search engines love to discover content through the many social bookmarking sites, make sure that you have buttons and icons to help readers share the content they like.  A few Tweets or Facebook likes will make a world of difference to the rate that your site is indexed.

You can often get solid SEO advice and information about crawl rate if you join a good marketing forum. But remember this is just something that will take a little time, but you can impact it fairly quickly. Take each day one at a time, and then just feel good that you are taking positive steps. There is nothing like constant effort, but just be sure you are doing the right things for your site.

It does not matter which kind of website or blog that you run so long as you are getting a good influx of search engine generated traffic. An incredibly important factor in raising your rankings is getting the bots to increase their crawling of your website. The approach you take with this is a lot more important. Put these tips to work for you and you shouldn’t have any trouble getting the bots to crawl your site more frequently. This is a big factor in your overall success. That means that you need to actually take action on what you have already learned.

Doing WordPress SEO the Right Way

WordPress and SEO go hand in hand because the search engines favor the WordPress blogging platform to a high extent. If you own a WordPress blog, then you might possibly increase your chances of getting on the first page for your keyword. Of course, this will happen if you get a few things rights. There are hundreds of thousands of WordPress blogs out there on various topics. However, for many different causes, they do not have all good search engine rankings. Your main concern is to optimize your WordPress blog for the search engines. Make sure that you have a working strategy set up so that the search engines will give you a higher ranking.

Start a Comments Section:

Even though this is very easy for most people to remember, there are still a few who forget it every time. When you have a WordPress site, you cannot afford to give any chances to get new material by not using new comments. User generated content is what pushed the social media craze today and made it so popular. In addition to getting you closer with your visitors, allowing them to leave comments will ensure that your blog has new content. This alone will really please the search engines.

Concentrate on One Topic: Now, there are WordPress blogs out there that talk about every imaginable topic under the sun. This is fine.

However, if your intent is to maximize your SEO efforts, then you have to write about only one thing at a time. Then, branch out to the sub-topics if needed. Why is this so necessary? First, it will be your visitors who will be responsible for putting new content on your blog by commenting on it. Secondly, the search engines will have a good idea of what your blog is about. These factors will have plenty to do with the way that your site is ranked by the search engines.

Don’t Leak Link Juice: One thing that is so common on a lot of WordPress blogs is all of the outgoing links that are placed in the sidebar.

These links show up on all the pages of your blog, which makes you lose link juice. This will have a big impact on your blog being optimized successfully for the search engines. If you don’t want this happening, then make sure you are using the rel=”nofollow” tag to the less important pages on your blog. This is so that you are safe.

Blogging with WordPress makes SEO seem a little simpler than it really may be. If you want to get the biggest possible bang for your buck though it’s time you learn to pay attention to all the little details and read all the fine print. Let’s get this party started! Make now the time when you take action and tomorrow you’ll reap the rewards of your hard work.

How to Make Your Niche Blog Successful

If you are a newbie blogger and want to use a successful strategy to make your niche blog effective, then this article will provide you with wonderful tips. This is because it discusses a few tips to make your niche blog successful.

See What Other Bloggers are Doing: Browse through some other blogs in your niche, especially the most successful ones, and see what they have to teach you. What do these blogs offer their readers in terms of features, content, appearance and so forth? It’s helpful to observe what these leading blogs are doing, and how they’re fulfilling the needs of their readers and subscribers. You ultimately want to create your own unique niche blog, but what others have done can inspire you and get the creative juices flowing. You should never have the attitude that you know everything you need to know about blogging, and constantly seeing what you can pick up from others can ensure that you’re always open to new information.

Ensure that the Design is Relevant: The first thing that your blog visitors notice is the design. Do you think that your blog design and niche are properly matched?

Is it a good fit for your selected topic? Does your design resonate the main elements of your niche? By keeping your blog’s design relevant you’ll be able to instantly attract the attention of your visitors and get them interested in your content. If your blog design is not that great, then your visitors will not want to read your posts. If you’re using a WordPress blog, you should try to keep your theme as closely related to your targeted niche as possible. This is so that your visitors are instantly able to connect with your blog. Niche blogging has more to it than just writing niche content. It also has to do with producing the right blog design and making the readers feel comfortable.

Be Consistent: Producing a niche blog is just the first step. But, continuing to have regular updates is what will make you seem better than your competition. Writing consistently lets you give your readers focused content on a regular basis, without skimping on the quality. Your readers will look up to your blog when they are seeking any targeted information related to your niche. This is because they can count on your blog being updated. If you don’t maintain a level of consistency, your readers will have nothing to look forward to. Thus, you will notice a drop in the number of visitors you receive and your subscription rates.

Achieving success with any blogging venture is about being patient and persistent with your efforts until you reach the level of success you wanted.

Why Can’t I Rank For Those Keywords

I don’t consider myself an expert in anything, it’s a term that is devalued by the host of self proclaimed experts we meet every day. However in SEO I have some knowledge having lived and breathed it for the last four years.  The one thing I’m learning is that you have to be flexible, what worked last month is useless if it doesn’t work now.  You can ask yourself why can’t I rank for those keywords – but if you’re using outdated SEO tactics then you already have the answer.

It is difficult, some techniques that worked very well a few months ago are now at best useless – so the best information is up to date. But my latest keyword ranking attempt is working very well – here’s a summary.

I’m not going to give you exact details as I don’t need the competition but the information I hope is useful.   I have a blog which I have developed over the last few years, original quality posts, all 700 words long, licensed graphics, great links and some serious traffic.   It makes quite a lot of cash and is up there as an authority in it’s field.  Generally in a related post it will rank pretty well with minimal effort.  Obviously this encouraged me to look for keywords with lots of traffic I could rank for.

After spotting a nice two word phrase that seemed easy to achieve I wrote a post and started promoting heavily, a few weeks later I’d scraped up in to page 2 but was getting a lot of traffic.  Enter the Panda Google algorithm change and my site was hit bad – content wise it was top notch but it suffered from the legacy of several years of SEO promotion.  Anyway this keyword phrase was lost to me after the update.

On looking at a couple of failing sites I noticed that many of the top spots were taken by hopeless sites with EMDs – that is the keyword in question existed in the domain.  Exact Match Domains as of July 2011 are working very, very well. I bought a related EMD – it wasn’t a great one but it worked – basically the{keyword}.com - just added ‘the’ to the domain name.   A few posts and a small backlinking campaign later and my cheap EMD domain was outranking my authority site and bringing in loads of traffic.

If you have identified a keyword combination you like and can make money on I urge you to check out available domains.  If you hit lucky they can accelerate passed established sites with ease.  It is said they are next on the Google hit list so buy, promote and exploit while you can!

For tough keywords, search for domains on www.dropday.com – you can get a free trial initially for 10 days.  Look for ones with Google Page rank, lots of visitors and DMZ membership if possible.  Don’t discount the others though.  At the moment EMD looks like a great solution to the problem of why I can’t rank for those keywords.  Who know’s how long it will last.  I’m fully expecting my cheap Exact Match Domain to die any day soon but at the moment it is gaining more and more traffic!

Social Bookmarking in Plain English for SEO

If you’ve spent any amount of time researching ways to promote your website you have probably come across the term social bookmarking.   There’s no doubt it plays an important role and can indeed bring lots of targeted traffic to your site but how can the average webmaster harness the power.

First of all let’s clarify what exactly social bookmarking is and I’ll try and use some semblance of plain English to explain it.   The more you browse the web, the more sites you wish to revisit.  Of course your browser has the facility to store favorites or bookmark sites but most find this quickly becomes unmanageable.    There is also another problem these favorites are normally stored on your local computer – so log in some where else and you’ve lost them.  The answer was the social bookmarking sites, which are very basically websites which store and sort all your personal favorite sites.

Stumbleupon - Social Bookmarking Site

StumbleUpon - Leading Social bookmarking Site

Here’s one of the most popular called StumbleUpon and you can see just a brief snapshot of how it stores website, video, articles and anything that is stored on the web.

The idea is that you can access this bookmarking list wherever you are and from any computer it will always be accessible.  You can also sort and manage these bookmarks using categories and tags which can be used to group similar sites together.

But there’s another crucial word involved in these sites particularly from the SEO perspective and that’s ‘social‘. This refers to the fact that your sites can be seen, viewed and rated by other users.

Your bookmark is not only a reference to a favorite website of yours, it is also a recommendation to thousands of other users of that particular social bookmarking site.

This is a very powerful indicator of the quality of the site you are listing.  It is also an indicator to the search engines which is why social bookmarking is used for SEO is now an important part of site promotion.  Imagine the search engines are desperately looking for ways to discover whether a site is useful, popular or interesting to it’s readers.  A site that is popular in these social bookmarking sites is going to generally do well in the search rankings as well.

So what does a webmaster do to bring in this traffic and search engine love to their web site?   Obviously there’s limited advantage in going around creating your own bookmarking accounts and rating your own web pages.  For a start they’ll be identified as all coming from  the same person (based on a duplicate IP address) and you’ll likely get your account downgraded or closed.

What you need to do is to raise awareness of your wonderful website (it is wonderful isn’t it?), so you need other people to rate, rank and comment on your pages through their own bookmarking sites.  There are many ways of doing this, quite a few social bookmarking software can be bought, some groups have set up co-operatives who bookmark each others sites.  All of these can work but usually are so time consuming that they are not worth the effort, also if you leave a pattern behind then it can all be in vain.

So for SEO purposes, it is important that other people promote your web pages and also that any method is relatively automated and simple.   Now I’ve tried most of them the bookmarking software like bookmarking demon, socialbot (not good) and a few others.  The groups worked better because their was real people bookmarking your site but it ended up taking so long was not really scaleable.  There was only one that did the job with the absolute minimum of fuss and that’s a program called SocialAdr - it’s in a different league from anything out there.

If you buy one of the subscriptions it can create hundreds of links, plus Tweets on your websites automatically – just like clockwork week in week out.  The Free Version also works well but with a little more effort and is a good way of seeing how impressive the systems is.

Whether you have the budget or not – I urge you to try out the Free version of Social Ad - at worst it will create loads of social bookmarking links to your website with little effort.  If you like it – it could form the basis of your SEO efforts – it’s an incredible system.

Duplicate Anchor Text – A Very Bad Idea Now

Ever since I started in SEO some years ago, lot of the more aggressive SEO consultants have proclaimed the importance of maintaining a consistent anchor text.  So for instance if you wanted to rank for ‘fluffy white pillows” – you would endeavor to build as many links back to your site as possible with the anchor text ‘fluffy white pillows’ and nothing else.  Now there’s no doubt that this method worked although I’ve always had a bad feeling about it.

Let’s be honest if you’re looking at building natural inbound links to your site, then they wouldn’t all have the identical anchor text would they?  No of course not they would come with all sorts of anchors – press here, here, click this, check this out etc, etc.

Of course you would get some with ‘fluffy white pillows’ but nowhere near hundred percent.  Well with the latest Panda updates it looks like Google is cracking down on this – there are loads of reports of sites plummeting down the SERPs due to having near 100% identical anchor texts.

I have been varying my anchor texts for quite a while now but many of my pages with the duplicate problem tanked quite dramatically.   The new algorithm clearly took this into account and if you had pages ranking without a variety of anchor text links then you’ll likely have the same problem.

Fortunately this particular SEO problem seems reasonably easy to fix as long as you don’t have too many links.  Simply start building up a more natural linking profile, write some articles and build ‘click here links’ or ones with just your bare URL.  It seems to be that when you start reducing from that high percentage duplicate anchor penalty your rankings can come back fairly easily. It’s worked on the two sites I’ve tried it on so far !!

Of course needless to say this is also the case with all on-page SEO optimising as well, we know that if you over use your keyword on a page or highlight fluffy white pillows in bold every three lines whilst adding it in to every title then you’re unlikely to rank at all.

It’s always about making it look like you have no knowledge of SEO techniques in order to  rank highly.  But the more that Google tweaks it’s algorithm to look for these rather obvious signs then the harder we have to try to look natural!!  So remember if you’re not already doing so much sure you vary that anchor text.

Positive SEO Practices for Your WordPress Blog

Since WordPress comes as a complete package with everything ready, making it very easy to create a blog. There are certain things you will need to remember, though, when trying to get your WordPress blog ranked in the search engines, like:

Use a sitemap for Google when launching your blog as this will play a major role in how well and quickly your site is ranked. It’s easy to add to a WordPress blog and very much worth the effort. Sitemaps simply make it simpler for the search engines like Google to find their way around your site. It’s like an easy to read overview of all the different pages on your site, which is something highly important as far as SEO is concerned. Google offers the Google XML sitemaps plugin which makes installation of Sitemap on your WordPress site as simple as possible. So you don’t have to do anything manually, the plugin will do all the hard work for you and automatically update each time you add a new page to your site. The SEO benefits of Sitemaps are amazing and worth every minute you spend working on it and more – don’t miss out!

Activate Trackbacks: When you log in to WordPress, you will find an area referred to as Trackbacks, that features a long list of blogs, especially those that have already linked to you. If you find that trackbacks is disabled on your WordPress, make sure you enable it because it encourages others to link to your blog and gets you quality backlinks from other relevant blogs. Trackbacks make it easy for people to gain incoming links, and since backlinking is a highly important part of SEO, you need to take action and get as many links as possible.

Customize Slugs for Each Post: When you’re writing a post for your WordPress site, you’ll find a field called Slug that is located just below the title of the your post, which is what determines the address of the article you’re posting. Using the same keywords in the META data, content, and title of your page will let the search engines see that your page is consistently focused on that specific keyword of phrase. WordPress does a lot for you to make search engine optimization a simple matter but it can’t actually go in and do the proper placement of keyword for you – that doesn’t mean it isn’t important.

Once you start working on your WordPress site in terms of SEO, you’ll see a big shift in traffic as you get ranked for your targeted keywords. Just focus on quality content and proper SEO to see long term results.
